Did you know that Luxembourg was once a sea? Its waves flowed back and forth from the southwest to the northeast, leaving their marks behind. For this residency, I sought to learn how to “let it go.” to uncover a “dripping state of being”. What fluids leave behind became the starting point of my exploration — the echoes after the sea, the iron in the red soil, after the effort, the sweat.
Across various terrains — the Giele Botter forest, the Rumelange mining museum, Alzette Street, the pole dance class, and the municipal pool in Esch — I observed and collected these minerals. Overwhelmed by this flood, the ingredients for my cocktail became limitless: Minett, nettles, pure and polluted water, wild strawberries, apprehension, excitement, sweat… Faced with an abundance of raw material I focused on the body as an ingredient in continuity with the landscape rather than merely a vessel.
Seeking an “egology,” I shift away from the pyramidal food chain toward a more horizontal ecology. My feminine body infiltrates spaces with fear and courage, undulating and sweating. Emotions and exudates feed Cocktailestesia — a participatory experience where sweat becomes an ingredient, inviting us to feel the body’s porosity in dialogue with a cocktail blending effort, resilience, and curiosity.
Cocktailestesia is not an endpoint, but a beginning — a collection of starters. One such moment, shared during the “Get Out” event, invited participants to become ingredients themselves. After a brief movement session to activate sweat, each person seasoned their drink composed of herbal water, wild strawberry syrup, and botanical bitters — with a trace of their own body.
