This project emerged from a collaboration with the curatorial duo le pépin mû, composed of Mathilde Moreau and Pauline Thoër, following our nomination for the 2025 Prix Dauphine for Contemporary Art, centered on the theme “dopamine.” Together, we conceived an olfactory installation, like a journey on the edge of dreams and breakfast.
The exhibition took place at La Galerie du Crous de Paris.

“La nuit, l’odorat ne dort pas. Pourtant, il paraît absurde de projeter des odeurs en rêve. Au réveil, les songes s’évanouissent et les sens se relient au tangible. Dans cet état transitoire se confondent vécu et fantasmé. Le rapport binaire à la réalité n’a plus de prise. Naomi Feigelson sonde cette lisière par une installation olfactive. Propagés depuis des cafetières à l’italienne, ses élixirs installent un avant-goût de pain grillé, de café. Un long drapé blanc adoucit la lumière qui pénètre la galerie, embaumée de cette odeur boisée. On y lit le souvenir épars d’un rêve. Le sol est ponctué de fragments, comme débordants de cette chimère. Fantômes d’une queue de lézard, de brindilles enduites ; des effluves plus fraîches se mêlent à la visite. Le savoureux se mue en une odeur terreuse, proche du pétrichor. Le réconfort d’une terre d’été, frappée par l’averse, s'immisce dans le petit déjeuner composé par l’artiste. In case you miss breakfast, will you still be able to remember your dream ? Le bruit du grille-pain rythme, en sursaut, les divagations des visiteur·ses.”

“At night, the sense of smell doesn’t sleep. And yet, it seems absurd to project scents into dreams. Upon waking, dreams dissolve and the senses reconnect with the tangible. In this transitional state, lived experience and fantasy blur. The binary relationship to reality loses its grip. Naomi Feigelson explores this threshold through an olfactory installation. Scents diffuse from Italian moka pots, releasing hints of toasted bread and coffee. A long white drape softens the light filtering into the gallery, now steeped in this woody aroma. One reads in it the scattered memory of a dream. The floor is scattered with fragments, as if spilling from that very reverie: ghosts of a lizard’s tail, twigs coated in resin; fresher notes weave through the visit. The savory shifts toward an earthy smell, reminiscent of petrichor — the comforting scent of summer soil struck by rain. It seeps into the breakfast the artist has composed. In case you miss breakfast, will you still be able to remember your dream?
The sudden pop of the toaster punctuates the visitors’ wandering thoughts.”

It’s breakfast o’ clock somewhere – oil infused with toaster crumbs, cardamom, coffee beans, Moka pot, candle, salt dough
Eau de Lézard – oil infused with beet skins, asphalt, smoked wood, cocoa powder, and dried mushrooms, Moka pot, candle, salt dough
Best of both worlds – smoked branches, wax, white chocolate leaves
“Morning lizard!” – screen-printed text, curtain made of doilies
Ghost toaster – 1-minute toaster sound loop
